Throughout her career, Winsor was a member of a variety of educational and child guidance organizations, taught courses at the Vassar Summer Institute, directed Head Start training programs, and took part in larger Bank Street research projects. Upon her retirement in 1971, she received the title of Distinguished Teacher Educator Emeritus. During the 1970s, Winsor organized and developed the Lucy Sprague Mitchell Memorial Conferences, organized Bank Street College Publications, and edited two volumes of the writing of Bank Street College faculty. Winsor died in 1981.
The papers of Charlotte Winsor reflect her almost forty years of participation in Bank Street's teacher education program in the Graduate Division, the Public School Workshop, faculty and administrative affairs, and education research.
This subgroup contains biographical and autobiographical materials, correspondence, course work papers, notes from lectures and speeches, records of advisor and faculty activities, and research and project reports reflecting Winsor's involvement as a faculty member, administrator, project director and emeritus faculty. Also included is a Family Album scrapbook detailing the history of the Cooperative School for Teachers created by Winsor.
SERIES A - Correspondence (1952-1981) contains general correspondence regarding Bank Street College faculty affairs and other professional activities, as well as correspondence with Edith Gordon on the Bank Street oral history project. Arrangement is chronological.
SERIES B - Lectures, Conferences and Publications (1948-1980) includes talks given by Winsor; materials from conferences she attended and organized, and publications.
SERIES C - Public School Workshop (1944-1965) contains curriculum and resource materials, administrative records, reports, correspondence with schools, and papers from a parents group. This series also includes stories, plays, poetry, and drawings created by Public School Workshop classes. This series is arranged chronologically.
SERIES D - Personal and Biographical Materials (1963-1981) includes resumes, photographs, and autobiographical writings, as well as notes, interview transcripts, and essays on the history of Bank Street College and of progressive education.
SERIES E - Faculty Affairs (1948-1980) documents Winsor's service as a member of the faculty and as an advisor, as chair of the graduate school, and as a participant in various Bank Street programs and projects.
SERIES F - Course Work Papers (1940-1981) contains teaching materials, lecture notes, syllabi, student work, bibliographies, and course evaluations from Winsor's courses at Bank Street. Organized by course.
SERIES G - City and Country School (1926-1953) contains stories and books produced by students of the City and Country School.
